Introduction
Paxman, the provider of the scalp cooling technology used during chemotherapy, has partnered with Mind Body Goals, makers of the Luma³ range of breathwork devices. Together they are carrying out limited trials of new interventions.
What is the purpose of the trial?
Our aim is to find new and innovative ways to support patient comfort during treatment. Ultimately our goal is to make the treatment experience as comfortable as possible and provide patients with tools and skills to support this.
Who is taking part?
Patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and have also chosen to use scalp cooling as part of their treatment cycle.
What will happen if you participate?
Our trial studies the potential positive effects of breathing exercises on stress, anxiety and physical discomfort. Your healthcare team will assign you to one of two groups within the trial. Group 1 will provide feedback during their treatment cycle and Group 2 will use a new device to guide breathing exercises and also provide feedback. It will last for your first four treatments. There are a total of 6 short surveys to complete over this period of time, each taking no more than a minute to complete.
Why are trials like this important?
Without trials like this and valuable patient feedback it would be impossible to introduce new and innovative ways of supporting patients during their healthcare journey.
What are my next steps?
If you would like to take part in the trial please tell the team at your next appointment and you will be provided with everything you need to participate.
Thank you
Whatever you decide, thank you for considering supporting this trial and may we wish you well for your treatments.
